This Was One of the Coolest Projects I’ve Ever Worked On

One of the first things I do when I arrive on set to shoot behind the scenes photos is to stake out the studio and see how things look. Everything in the room affects how my photos will turn out, so for me, it’s important to see how things take shape before I start to shoot. How many people are on set? How large is the space? What does the lighting set up look like? And are there any props that are being used on set? These are all things that I take into consideration.

Recently, I was asked to shoot behind the scenes photos during my friend Sarah Silver‘s photo shoot with Aveda for American Salon. When I arrived on set that day, I knew very little about how the shoot would come together, and just how much fun I would have working on this project. In retrospect, the trampoline should have been a giveaway. Below are a few of my favorite images from the day. Big thanks to Sarah and my friends at Aveda for the invite.
