As the husband and photographer of a fashion blogger, I often find myself attending shopping events for various brands with my wife. Brands will often invite bloggers and shoppers into their stores to celebrate the launch of a new line of clothing, an anniversary, or store opening. Shopping parties usually involve lots of champagne, bite-sized snacks, lots of cupcakes, as well as a few purchases along the way.
I actually enjoy attending these events with my wife. Most men know what it’s like to go shopping with their wife or girlfriend. It’s usually awful. Fortunately, shopping events are not like that; they are actually fun. I don’t have to hold my wife’s purse, and I don’t have to stand there by myself while she tries on outfit after outfit. Instead, I get to sip on champagne, socialize with other bloggers, and eat free snacks.
While I do enjoy these events, I’m not necessarily these brands’ target audience. That is why I was excited to hear that Reiss was hosting a mens’ event at their Soho location to celebrate the launch of their new Autumn/Winter 2014 Tailoring Collection.
At the event, I got to meet with Worth Motor Cycle Company as they unveiled their newest restoration, enjoy complimentary scotches, hot shaves from West Village Tonsorial, shoe shines by A Shine & Company, and even a few cupcakes. It was a lot of fun, and 10% of the proceeds from the night were donated to aid at-risk youth.
While I don’t get to dress up all that often, I actually love to dress up, so I really enjoyed seeing their new collection. I’ve always liked the Reiss brand, so it was great to see their men’s offering. I also loved having my first shave with a straight razor, and giving my shoes some much-needed love.
Here are a few photos I took at the event.
